Romantic Comedy

When things get rough I have a hard time focusing on reading. Or even watching anything that is serious on television. This is where the romantic comedy comes in. You can busy your mind with a story that makes you feel warm and fuzzy.

We are living through a tough time right now. A time like I’ve never seen. I wanted to share a recommendation with you today if you are looking for something lighthearted to read.

Several years ago I downloaded a book the night before vacation. It was a rock-star romance. Romance is a go-to genre for me. I love to get enveloped in a love story that can invoke strong emotion. A story not about just sex, but about the beginning of a relationship. I tend to love strong female characters and will judge a book harshly for underdeveloped characters.

The book I downloaded was “Lick” by Kylie Scott. I was delighted by Scott’s writing. She was able to create strong characters with a sense of humor while also the proper balance of tension and emotion. I loved the book from the first chapter.

Evelyn goes to Vegas to celebrate her birthday and wakes up married to David the rock star. This was a book that I could immediately see as a movie in my head.

And…it’s a series! Not the kind of series that follows one couple through multiple books, but four stand-alone books. The Stage Dive series, which is the name of the band, has a book for each band dude. My favorite was “Lead.” But I honestly loved all of them.

If you like this type of book definitely add this to your list. And let me know what you think in the comments!
